Dear friends,
The Tecmint.com team is pleased to announce that a long-awaited request from you has become a reality: the availability of the RHCSA (Red Hat Certified System Administrator) based on RHEL 9 and RHCE (Red Hat Certified Engineer) ebook based on RHEL 8 in PDF format.
Let us tell you why we decided to invest time, effort, and resources to provide you with this possibility.
Besides being committed to providing you with high-quality content, we take great pride in helping spread the knowledge of Linux and Free Open Source Software (FOSS) because 1) we believe in the philosophy, and 2) as part of our worldwide family, we want to help you advance in your career as much as we can.
This ebook, along with the official Red Hat Enterprise Linux official guides, will help you prepare to take and pass the RHCSA (EX200) and RHCE (EX294) exams.
As you know, both exams are aimed at determining if your knowledge, skills, and ability meet those required of a junior and senior administrator, respectively, of RHEL systems across a wide variety of environments and scenarios.
Becoming RHCSA and RHCE certified can help you show potential employers (and current as well) that you have what it takes to contribute to the success of their IT departments, which ultimately means the overall success of the business.
Additionally, the demand for highly qualified Linux professionals with certifications is continually on the rise. But do not take our word for it – let’s take a look at a few well-known online job board sites where RHCSA and RHCE-related positions have been posted recently.
At the time of this writing (April 2024), here are the number of open positions available in each site (click on the numbers to go to the search page with results):

---|---|---|
foundit.in | 8109 | 7837 |
Naukri.com | 6674 | 7732 |

Hello Ravi, you have not answered my question about the LFCE. Have anyone here use this ebook to pass any of the exams?
@Ashton,
This book is for RHCSA and RHCE certification, not for LFCE certification. I suggest you check this out for LFCE – https://www.tecmint.com/linux-foundation-lfcs-lfce-certification-exam-book/
Hello Ravi, thanks for getting back to me. I got the LFCSA and LFCE, the only problem I have is I don’t know how to use the ebook with the exam objective. That was the main reason I said if you could point me out to each topic in the ebook related to the exam objective.
Possibly add a section about Stratis and vdo that falls under the new tasks for managing storage and a thin provisioning task in RHEL8.
@Satvik,
The chapter in progress, and will be added to the book in the next update…

@Abdulrazzaq,
Sent you sample preview of this book on your email..
Before 1 week the price was 25$ but now increased to 35$?. i didn’t get why they have increased extra 10$.
@Jaipalreddy,
Two years back we changed the price from $25 to $35, how come two weeks? where you have seen? Also if you see other books of Redhat certification they are too costly and rang between $250-$300. We kept very reasonable compare to others..
I am very happy with your quick response of clearing doubts. need a small clarification. I surely buys the above book but the problem is how can i understand the concept without practical knowledge? Is any practical knowledge available such as like video along this book. kindly update…..
@jaipalreddy,
Sorry we can’t provide any video tutorials for practice, but do provided all examples with screenshots so that you can better understand what each command or configuration.
A very thank for your reply…will buy within a week.
I am from India, how can I get this if purchase from this website.
@Jaipal,
Once you purchase, you will get the book copy within 30 mins.
Hi Ravi Saive,
I have standard pdf of rhel cerficationation notes which i have dowloaded, should i buy your provided pdf , the same will present in your pdf right.
Please update your comment.
@Jaipalreddy,
From where you’ve downloaded rhel certification notes? also I didn’t undestand your question clearly…
should i buy the above pdf becoz i already having the standard rhse and rhce pdf which i have downloaded. please clarify my doubt
@Jaipalreddy,
Please clarify, from where you’ve downloaded RHCE and RHCSA PDF? our book is updated one and based on exam objectives..
If the context are available in pdf formats, please share the link
@Manirul,
The RHCSA and RHCE exam contents are available in the PDF format only, but you need to buy this book to get the PDF version.
I am really grateful for your customer service and additional chapters, kudos to you!
How do I get an updated version of the book which I purchased about a year ago
@Andrew,
Since then no updates to book, if any updates we will re-distribute copies to all purchasers..
Concept are explained in very basic level, in depth explanation about the concept would be great a plus here..
its good for beginners
Allow me please for the rhcsa exam, they have a set of questions. getting the first two questions right (no brainer which ones these are) will open the magic box containing the remaining of the questions which are pretty much easy to answer.
Group your questions together and do the hardest and complicated ones first because almost always if you get these wrong you can still start over. The time given is more than enough. I spent 4 years dabbling in UNIX and 6 months in Linux before going for my rhcsa, and i came out of the exam room with 30 mins to spare.
Thanks for your suggestion.
Please mention which chapters are for RHCSA and which chapters are for RHCE, some where beginning of the book , so that it would help to practice efficient way.
BTW it is an excellent concise note for RedHat Certification.
@Subrat,
RHCSA Section (chapters 1 to 15)
RHCE Section (chapters 1 to 13)
excellent review
Sir, is there any ebook on RHCVA (Red Hat Certified Virtualization Administrator) I want to go for RHCVA certification, if any book or any other source of material where I can prepare for my certification?
Just purchased the book and received it via email about an hour later. About 30 pages in so far and it’s easy to read. Will post again as I get deeper into it.
Hello Sir,
I have been following the resources on your website for almost a year. Now I am planning to take RHCSA exam. I want to know if it is enough to study only from the ebook to appear in the exam or I should study some additional resources?
@Jay,
This book is enough to crack the RHCSA/RHCE exam, as it contains all the exam objectives with practical examples and screnshots for easy understanding..
I just got through the first couple chapters of this guide.
It’s well written. Just like the website, these guys know how go put together information without adding too much to it.
Great job, and $35 is a small price to get well curated information.
Thank you!
By the way do you have or plan to have a kind of exam questions and answers like or something similar to get better prepared for RHCSA /RHCE? I think this could be very helpful for exam and interviews as well.
Have a wonderful day!
Jean.
@Jean,
Currently no any plans about RHCE exam question/answer kind of cheat sheet, but the book this RHCE preparation book covers almost everything about exam point of view.
Great books

Thanks,
Jean.
@Jean,

Hi Ravi,
I understand that this book is one year old now.. Does the syllabus remains the same or is there any major changes with the current exam format which is been updated in this book if I would like to buy now ?
@Siva,
The RHCSA/RHCE syllabus remains same till date, and the book is updated regularly with new updates based on new syllabus..
Hello Ravi,
I wanted to ask you a question about the pdf file. I would like to know if your pdf file was created like the usual ones files created by RedHat called “Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7
System Administrator’s Guide” or Your pdf file was created trying to explain how to perform the tasks needed of only objective of the exam?
If so, I would like to buy it. I will wait for your reply.
Thanks.
Nestor.
@Nestor,
Our PDF book contains all the RedHat RHCSA/RHCE certification exam objectives with clear explanations along with practical examples and screenshots that will enough to crack a certification. In fact whoever purchased our book they are passed out the exam in one attempt..

Thanks again!!!
@Daniel,
Oh That’s a really great news, congratulations for passing out both RHCSA and RHCE certification…
I passed the RHCSA exam, thank you Ravi… thank you Tecmint.
@Jose,
Oh That’s really good to hear, congratulations man for cracking the RHCSA exam, any plan in taking RHCE? All credit goes to our author Gabriel…
Hi Ravi,
Of course! I’m training myself to be prepared for the RHCE exam. It’ll be a great challenge!!!
Regards!
Hi, I have another suggestion. Having just tried exam ex200 and not even being able to start it, due to the first question (which I am not allowed to mention) can I please please ask you for the sake of others to add a small section about “how to change the root password when that password is not known/not given”. This avoids wasting time in turning up for the exam as well as the 500 euros (the price in The Netherlands) plus vat thx a lot
Ruud
@Ruud,
Thanks for suggestion, will surely include this part in our upcoming updated version, till then you can go through this article for setting forgetting root password in RHEL7.
Thx Ravi … here the official rhel7 link … has more steps … https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-US/Red_Hat_Enterprise_Linux/7/html/System_Administrators_Guide/sec-Terminal_Menu_Editing_During_Boot.html#sec-Changing_and_Resetting_the_Root_Password
the book is great, help me to obtain the certification RHCSA .
good book for few money.
thanks ravi!
@Carlos,
Good to know that you’ve passed RHCSA exam, any plan to take RHCE? and thanks for finding this useful all credit goes to our author Gabriel..
Hi. Can I make a suggestion on the LDAP section? As I was going through the steps, I decided to do the ldap client side first, so issued:
and this worked fine. The next part, however, did not:
as it could not find it.
It turned out that this part was part of the ‘server’ setup, but that was not clear. So I installed openldap-servers and then the command worked.
The next hurdle was this: creating the ldaprootpasswd.ldif file. It did not state ‘where’ to place it, so in the end I realized it could be anywhere.
Google pointed me at this website: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1206910
which suggested I add an extra parameter “-Y EXTERNAL” … and then it worked:
Might be worth making some additional comments in the LDAP section.
Cheers … Ruud
@Ruud,
Yes, you can suggest any solutions about the chapters in this RHCSA/RHCE book as far its 100% true. We will review and correct the errors if any in the book as per suggestions given by our readers.
Hi, On page 54 the RHCSA pdf states:
Let’s give user gacanepa read and write access to /mnt/playground/testfile.txt. Run as root
and you’ll have successfully added an ACL that allows gacanepa to write to the test file.
This is not correct. It should say:
This is the second ‘typo’ I have found in this pdf. When will you make the corrections for the next person who pays for the pdf?
Regards
Ruud
@Ruud,
Thanks for pointing out the mistake in RHCSA section, we will correct all typos in the next updated version of pdf, till then stay tuned to TecMint..
I think maybe both these are wrong. if were giving access for a specific file, we don’t need the
-R
(--recursive
). So it looks like the only thing that needs to be changed from the original command is to include the filename in the path and remove the-R
.Example 7: Creating hard and soft links
There is no better way to visualize the relation between a file and a hard or symbolic link that point to it, than
to create those links. In the following screenshot you will see that the file and the hard link that points to it
share the same inode and both are identified by the same disk usage of 466 bytes. On the other hand,
creating a hard link results in an extra disk usage of 5 bytes
The last sentence should read … On the other hand, creating a SOFT link results in an extra disk usage of 5 bytes
cheers … Ruud
Please send fresher interview questions
Anyone has passed the exam and get certified using this material?.
See ya,
I just read your email subject “RedHat RHCSA/RHCE Book – Included New Chapter 28 “MariaDB Database Server” you have asked feedback about the book.
Having Microsoft Windows background, I had started the work on Linux with no knowledge but after buying this book I found Linux not so hard as it seems. I am using this book as a reference at work and found it really helpful.
It’s very precise and well organized, each and every topic is well explained which makes the knowledge transfer pretty efficient. The new addition will be a great addition to an already great book. I will appreciate if you can also include tips and tricks to learn Linux for people who have come from Microsoft Windows background. I would also recommend to add practical exam questions which will be very helpful for candidates who are preparing for RHCSA/RHCE exam. Thanks
@Imtiaz,
Thanks for the feedback about the book, for tips and tricks, I suggest you to read our Linux Tips and Tricks section here: https://www.tecmint.com/tag/linux-tricks/

It’s a good to have thinking to write this book but I will recommend to add practical exam questions and how to as were those questions. It will be very helpful for candidates for RHCSA and RHCE exam. You might also make more money with the adding.
@Jean,
Sure we will add some practical questions about RHCSA and RHCE in upcoming update, but as we promised all future updates will be free, so no way to make more money…:)
I am really grateful for your customer service and additional chapters
I am using the book as a reference at work and it really comes in handy. It’s very precise and well organised which makes the knowledge transfer pretty efficient. I am also preparing for both RHCSA and RHCSE and its been very useful.
Very Good to refreshing my knowledge and I would like to recommend!!
This book is well written and is easily understood by Linux administrators for all levels. I am currently using this book for work, but will be using it for the Red Hat certification. Please keep up the good work and please keep more content coming.
i have really enjoyed the book so far. The new addition will be a great addition to an already great book and I am looking forward to your AWK book. The best part of the book is being able to see the command line used as part of the discussion.
I’m preparing for my certifications, and the books are really great, enjoying every page. I highly recommend to all people preparing for their certifications. Hardcover would be nice.
Very satisfied with this book….each and every topic is well explained and practically showed.
I really happy with this book. It’s very clear explanation with step by step learning.
I purchase the book and enjoy the book . This book is not only to prepare my RHCE certification has many useful for my work and pipe systems are also a great help, hoping to continue to receive updates of this book.
I found the Tecmint RHCSA/RHCSE certification study guide an invaluable resource. Whether you are studying to pass the certification or just want to get a deeper working knowledge of the Linux OS, there is much to be gleaned from this soon to be staple of certification guides. The key term being “working.” In the spirit of the Red Hat Certification, clearly the guide is aimed at those who wish to implement real world techniques with those that align with certification.
As a working Linux Systems Engineer, I can appreciate “cutting to the chase,” where time is a limited commodity and you need proven techniques, all with the understanding you can’t remain static. Particularly useful are the chapters ‘Understanding the boot process’ where we get a thorough yet handy explanation of how it works. That, along with an ‘Introduction to the New Systemd’ were especially useful. Honestly I am doing a disservice to the rest of the guide by singling those chapters out, the rest of the guide is equally as enlightening.
I can’t recommend this guide enough to truly do it justice. If you want a guide that is practical, thorough, useful, and most of all spells out technical concepts in plain English, look no further I’m certain this is your go to guide.
This book is really helpful! I will recommend it to everyone looking forward to taking a RH cert exam.
